Jurby Transport Museum has no paid employees and all the work done in the Museum, from looking after the Museum on opening days as a Duty Officer, or assisting with many other projects, is carried out by volunteers. We hope that the following information about volunteering will interest you and, if you are not yet a Volunteer, lead to your joining us.
The Museum operates to high safety standards and all volunteers will receive the necessary information and any training that is required. This ensures that they remain safe, as do others working around them, within the Museum premises.
From helping to entertain the public, assist with restoring vehicles, maintaining the areas around the Museum, we have something for you. If you have specialist skills that you’d like to utilise and share, or want to learn a new role or skill, we’ll be very pleased to have you with us.
It doesn’t matter whether you can help once a week, month or even just occasionally, we would be pleased to hear from you.
We are looking for Duty Officers for: Opening, locking up the building, manning the shop, serving drinks, and cashing up. There are always two people on duty.
Other activities can include:
Displays & Interpretation
Archives & Research Library
Education Programs
Marketing & Publicity
Shop & Commercial Activities
Membership & Volunteers
Event Management
Fundraising
Vehicle Maintenance
Vehicle Restoration
Drivers with PCV licences
Meeting people who share the same enthusiasm for their hobby, is all part of becoming a volunteer.
We're a small, friendly team and appreciate new helpers….
And most importantly, the kettle is always on and there is a good supply of biscuits and usually cake, for when it is time to have a break and a chat…
If you are interested in joining us as a volunteer, please speak to one of the Duty Officers or complete the form attached and pop it in the post to us.
We look forward to welcoming you…
