Cable Tramway Cable Unearthed in Douglas

6/8/2020

Two short sections of former Cable Tramway Cable were unearthed at the bottom of Broadway in Douglas recently. Given that the Tramway closed on 19 August 1929, these cables have been buried for 91 years. The superb co-operation of Auldyn Construction has allowed these relics to be preserved. The Museum has one of the original Cable Tramway trams in it's collection.

What historical discovery was made at the bottom of Broadway in Douglas, and how has the preservation effort been undertaken?
